KOTA KINABALU: The State Government welcomes the Federal Government’s strategic approach to assisting the people, including the early disbursement of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) ahead of the Aidilfitri celebrations for festive preparations.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said this move reflects the government’s concern for the welfare of the people, particularly those in need.
In addition, he said the RM400 special assistance initiative through the FlySiswa program for public higher education institution (IPTA) students, covering domestic flights between the Peninsula, Sabah, and Sarawak for the Hari Raya holidays also provides significant benefits to university students.
“The State Government is also providing an additional RM600 in assistance to Sabahan students studying in the Peninsula and Sarawak as a subsidy for return flight tickets to their hometowns.
“As for students studying within the state, they will receive RM300 each for their travel expenses to return home for Aidilfitri,” he said.
The Chief Minister said this during the 2026 MADANI Iftar ceremony with the Prime Minister at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, here on Sunday.
Hajiji said the various incentives provided by both the Federal and State Governments reflect a continuous commitment to helping the people, especially the underprivileged.
At the same time, Hajiji said the State Government will continue to provide full support to the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Anwar Ibrahim in efforts to strengthen national development and drive economic progress for the well-being of the people.
He added that the Prime Minister’s leadership has successfully restored and strengthened the national economy with encouraging investment achievements.
Malaysia, he said recorded the highest investment in history last year totaling RM426.7 billion, an 11 percent increase compared to 2024 involving over 8,000 investment projects with the potential to create 244,902 job opportunities for the people.
Hajiji added that the strengthening of the ringgit reflects confidence in the country’s economic direction under the MADANI Government’s leadership.
Before attending the event, the Prime Minister, accompanied by the Chief Minister, also visited a Ramadan Bazaar and met with the public at the University Apartment (UA) in Sepanggar.
