KOTA KINABALU :Maxim E-hailing Malaysia has partnered with Zlata, an insurance agency under the Sejamas Group, to boost protection for e-hailing drivers across Sabah.

The programme addresses the unique challenges in cities like Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, and Tawau, where longer journeys and inter-district travel are routine.

It delivers accessible, practical insurance tailored to Sabah’s mobility landscape, while underscoring Maxim’s support for its expanding local driver community.

The policies safeguard drivers during e-hailing trips – from heading to pick up a passenger, through the ride, to completing an order.

In cases of accidents, injuries, or vehicle damage tied to e-hailing, drivers receive compensation, sparing them potentially thousands of ringgit in out-of-pocket costs.

Zlata acts as a one-stop support hub, coordinating towing, preparing claims documents, and liaising with insurers to cut vehicle downtime post-accident.

Drivers can now use Zlata’s Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) scheme, spreading costs without full upfront payment to make coverage more affordable.

Plus, every policy purchase includes a complimentary car battery with warranty. Under intensive e-hailing use, batteries typically last 18–24 months or 50,000–70,000 km – saving drivers RM200–400 annually.

Trained technicians install it professionally, avoiding downtime from poor fitting.

“Driver safety and well-being are our top priority.

This partnership lets us team up with an experienced insurer to provide flexible, gig-friendly solutions,” said Mushfique Ahmed Chowdhury, Head of Legal Compliance & Government Relations, Maxim E-hailing Malaysia.

Maxim and Zlata are also planning outreach and education to raise awareness of these benefits. To claim the incentive, partners should visit or contact their local Maxim office.-pr/BNN
