KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor witnessed SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd’s (SMJE) presentation of an RM89.461 million contribution to the State Government at the State Legislative Assembly Building, here today.
In the brief ceremony, SMJE Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dr Dionysia Kibat presented replica cheques to Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary Datuk Mohd Sofian Alfian Nair for a RM50 million dividend for the financial year ended 2025 and RM37.96 million in State Sales Tax (SST) payable to the State Government for last year.
Since 2023, SMJ Energy has paid cumulatively a sum of RM210 million in dividends to the State Government.
The dividends are paid from distributable reserves, backed by a solid balance sheet, a stronger cash position, and continued disciplined financial management across the Group.
As at 31 December 2025, SMJ Energy Group’s total assets stood at RM4.82 billion, and it recorded a Profit After Tax of RM58.7 million despite ongoing economic, social, and geopolitical volatility.
Dr Dionysia also handed over CSR contributions of RM1 million for the Sabah State Government Scholarship Fund to Sabah Public Service Department Director-General Datuk Norlijah Danin, and RM500,000 to Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah (YKS) Director Datuk Diyanah Abdullah.
The Chief Minister said the dividend payment and SST handover reflected SMJE’s sustainable financial performance and demonstrated the company’s success in fulfilling the State Government’s mandate to increase Sabah’s participation in the oil and gas sector.
He added that the CSR contributions underscored the state-owned company’s commitment to human capital development and social welfare initiatives in Sabah.
Meanwhile, Chairman of SMJ Energy, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Masidi Manjun, said the company’s performance demonstrates the value of managing Sabah’s strategic assets with discipline, professionalism and a long-term perspective.
“Our responsibility is to manage the State’s strategic investments prudently, so they continue delivering sustainable returns and lasting benefits for Sabah, not only today but for future generations,” said Masidi who is also Deputy Chief Minister II/Finance Minister.
