PENAMPANG: A single mother in Kampung Kipangah here was all smiles when receiving the key to her new house built by Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor presented the key to Ovining @ Noni Primus, a mother of seven in her 60s, in a brief ceremony on Wednesday.
Constructed using the Industrialised Building System (IBS), the two-bedroom house was completed within 45 days and comes with a two-year warranty from SEC’s appointed contractor.
SEC, a state GLC, had initially planned to do a repair job but later decided to build the new house instead as it turned out the old one was too dilapidated that it was irreparable.
Met later the elated Noni, in her 60s, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, SEC and the GRS State government.
She said she had been applying for a new house under the hardcore poor housing programme (PPRT) for years through several governments but to no avail.
Her old house was on the verge of collapsing due to termites attack.
Meanwhile, SEC Chairman Datuk Annuar Ayub said the company’s CSR has always been focusing on aiding underprivileged Sabahans.
He said it was SEC’s long-term commitment to change the livelihood of Sabahans through its various CSR programmes.
Also on hand was State Secretary Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong, SEC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Harun Hj. Ismail and SEC’s Board of Directors together with its management team.-pr/BNN
