KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen has been appointed as the pro-tem Chief of the Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) Associate Wing effective 14 October 2021.
This appointment was announced by YB Dato Seri Santhara JP, the National Chief of the BERSATU Associate Wing.
BERSATU has amended its constitution to establish the associate member wing during its Annual General Meeting in November 2020.
The new wing is to accommodate new non-Malay members in the exclusively Bumiputera party.
YB Dato Seri Santhara JP was appointed as the first National Chief of the Associate Wing effective 29 September 2021. He is also the Deputy Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia and Segamat Member of Parliament.
Datuk Dr Roland Chia, who is also the Political Secretary to the Sabah Chief Minister, also announced the establishment of the pro-tem Sabah State Committee.
He said the pro-tem Sabah State Committee comprised veteran and young politicians, professionals and members of the business community.
The Sabah BERSATU Associate Wing’s pro-tem committee members are as follow:

YB Dato Seri Santhara JP and Datuk Dr Roland Chia led the Sabah BERSATU Associate Wing’s pro-tem committee to pay a courtesy call on the Honourable Sabah Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Bin Haji Noor, who is also the Sabah BERSATU Chief, at his official residence Sri Gaya today.
Welcoming them into BERSATU, Hajiji said he greatly appreciates their strong interest and support to the party.
He said their presence in BERSATU showed the party is strongly accepted and supported not only by the Bumiputeras but also the non-Bumiputeras in Sabah.
“I welcome all the non-Bumiputeras in Sabah to join our Associate Wing, and together we work for the people’s wellbeing and bring more development progress to the state,” said Hajiji.
Also present were Sabah BERSATU Sectetary, Datuk Mohd Razali bin Md Razi; and Datuk Abdul Kassim bin Jali, Chief Political Secretary to the Sabah Chief Minister cum Sabah BERSATU Executive Secretary.-pr/BNN
