Safrey and Daved recognised by RI Singapore

KUNDASANG:Safrey Sumping and Daved Simpat who won first and third placing respectively at  the  30th Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon 2017 was recognised by the Royal Institution (RI), Singapore.
They were conferred as members of the Royal Institute of Volunteers, Singapore on Sunday at Puteri Lodge here after the gruelling race.
Safrey, 35, a mountain guide from Kampung Himbaan, Bundu Tuhan won the elite men’s
title for the second straight year; while Daved, 35, a potter from Kampung Kiau, Kota Belud took the third spot.
Both of them were also recognised by their heroic deeds in rescuing and saving the lives of
school children and teachers from Singapore during the 2015 earthquake in Ranau which affected Mount Kinabalu.

They were part of the mountain guides who were dubbed the real heroes in rescuing those
stranded on the peak of Mount Kinabalu.
