KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor has urged the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers (SHAREDA) and the private sector to help shape Smart City development in the state.

“Looking ahead, Smart City development will be a key focus for Sabah. With two Smart Cities planned in Penampang and Kota Kinabalu, we are entering a new era of urban innovation.

“I encourage Shareda and the private sector to take an active role in shaping these smart cities, integrating technology, sustainability and community needs to create smarter and more livable spaces for the future,” he said at the SHAREDA’s 47th Anniversary Dinner held at the Magellan Sutera Resort, here last night.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam read his speech.

Hajiji assured that the State Government will continue to foster a conducive and business-friendly environment that encourages investment and innovation.

“We are committed to streamlining procedures, enhancing service delivery and ensuring that our policies remain transparent, fair and supportive of investor confidence.

“At the same time, providing housing for our people remains a top priority. “We will continue to work closely with the private sector to ensure that affordable, quality homes are accessible to every Sabahan, especially those in the B40 and M40 groups,” he said.

Hajiji was also heartened by SHAREDA’s growing focus on sustainable and green development, which aligns perfectly with the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan.

“This forward-looking approach ensures that the growth we pursue today will not compromise the needs of tomorrow,” he said.

He also commended SHAREDA for its strong partnership with the State Government and continued role in advancing Sabah’s growth agenda.

“The property sector remains one of the main drivers of Sabah’s economy. It brings investment, creates jobs and enhances the quality of life for our people.

“As we move forward, development must remain balanced and inclusive to promote opportunity, while ensuring sustainability and delivering long-term value for all Sabahans,” he said.-pr/BNN
