KOTA KINABALU: Kadazan Society Sabah (KSS) Sepanggar Branch celebrated the first anniversary of its inception in a ceremony held at the residence of its Chairman, Datuk Andrew Lim, at Jalan Kionsom, Inanam, here, last Saturday (July 20).
An anniversary cake cutting and presentation of contribution to Kadazan students who achieved excellent result in examination were also held during the event.
Lim, in his speech, invited those who have yet to join KSS to be willing to do so because the KSS true objective and purpose in general are for the benefit of the Kadazan community themselves.
“Preservation of the Kadazan cultural identity lies in the shoulder of the community itself. If not us, who else will do it,” he said.
He said in principle, since KSS Sepanggar was established, they have planned various programmes including membership recruitment and also that in the form of community-based.
“Although, our movement is limited due a few shortcoming but that did not weaken us to actively progressing with our commitment.
“KSS Sepanggar together with KSS central are committed to preserve and uplift the Kadazan ethnic, and so that our ethnic identity and culture are always safeguarded through our struggles in KSS,” he said.
KSS President, Datuk Marcel Leiking, Assistant Trade and Industry Minister cum Karambunai Assemblyman, Haji Azhar Datuk Matussin, Branch Committee members and other local leaders were also present at the event.-pr/BNN
