（吉隆坡28日讯）华总会长丹斯里吴添泉表示，为了对付酒醉驾驶肇祸而主张政府
“暂停所有酒类生产、业务及销售”的建议，并不符合我国的多元国情。
他表示无法苟同伊斯兰党的上述建议，但会全力支持交通部准备修改法令严惩肇祸司机的作法，并建议政府考虑强制性措施，把涉及酒醉驾驶者（不论是否涉及车祸意外）直接提控上庭面对罚款与监禁。
他也希望政府加强教育和宣导，和涉及业者等采取多管其下措施，如安排“代驾”或通过“电召车”服务，让它成为新常态，以杜绝酒后驾驶并取得治本和治本之效。
他说，暂停酒类生产与营销的主张，除了有违我国推行多年的自由贸易市场与商业政策之外，也侵蚀和挑战非穆斯林社会向来的喝酒权益，这种宗教化的“禁酒政策”，不宜在我国实施。
吴添泉今天发表文告说，喝酒也是包括华社在内的非穆斯林社会饮食文化之一，适当与适量小酌也可促进社交联谊，一些则用以补身壮体或配药下厨等，为许多非穆斯林社会日常生活中所常见。
针对国内最近发生司机因酒醉后驾驶导致致使车祸引起各方议论，他认为现有的有关刑罚应该加强，以达到进一步警戒作用，因此支持交通部和总检察署修改现有的1987年陆路交通法令，包括检讨第44条文在酒精或毒品影响的情况下驾驶导致无法控制交通工具、以及第45条文关于酒精含量的限制，以及相关的刑罚等。
“就有如政府目前实施人民行动管制令措施一样，一旦向触犯者采取提控上庭和加重罚款之后，很大程度上已经取得立竿见影之效。”
他也赞同将我国目前正实施的0.08%血液酒精浓度（BAC），调整至国际标准的0.05%的作法，以加重对酒驾司机的检测和刑罚。
他说，除上述外，政府也可以加强教育和宣导，贯彻民众“酒醉不驾车、驾车不喝酒”，甚至可以在公共售酒或饮酒地区设置有关告示牌，就有如饮食和咖啡店柜台明显处所置放的“18岁以下不可买香烟”一样，直接提醒公众人士。
他说，酒醉驾驶是项极不负责任的行为，除了不自律和不珍惜自己与家人，也漠视他人的安全和性命，并影响他人的家庭和一切，不论是对司机本身或无辜的受害人与背后的家属等，都带来一生一世的痛苦，因此这种自私的行径是应该被全面遏止的。-pr/BNN
