KOTA KINABALU: A Post Budget Dialog-2018 was held on November 16, at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, recently.
Jointly organized by Majlis Profesor Negara (UMS Chapter), Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Society Empowerment and Economic Development of Sabah (SEEDS) and the Alumni of International Islamic University Malaysia (Sabah Chapter), it was handled by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, UMS.
The dialog which started at around 9am and ended at 12noon saw discussions on various perspectives and aspects of the budget.
Among the subject debated were allocations to reduce cost of living, allocations to increase affordable housing, allocations specifically for Sabah, allocations involving industry 4.0 and budget deficit among others.
Six renowned panelists, mainly Prof Dato’ Mohd Hamdan Hj Adnan, Prof Datuk Dr Hj Kasim Hj Mansur, Prof Ir Dr Rosalam Hj Sarbatly, Dr Rafiq Idris, Datuk Badil Zaman and Datuk Mohd Basri Abd Gafar discussed and debated on the subjects with Dr Sarma Aralas as moderator.
This was a continuation of the pre-budget discussion organized last month at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy.
According to Dr Rafiq Idris, such programmes were an important avenue for academicians, students as well as industry players to exchange views on economic matters.
