Getting a higher education is everyone’s dream. However not all may be able to go into the mainstream universities. For those who don’t know where to go or need a different kind of education after Form Five should consider enrolling into Kuala Lumpur City College.

According to its education director Zahara Ismail, most Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers wat to continue their studies and wish to have a rich and stimulating start to their life in the correct environment. This include good education programmes that enables them to get a good paying job afterwards.

She said even though the hope and aspiration of students are high, not everyone can enroll in universities or even institutes of higher learning due to the exorbitant fee they are expected to pay.

“The cost of education is quite steep and this is not inclusive of tuition costs, transportation, books and accommodation. The thought can be daunting to parents and students,” she stated.

She however stressed that there are alternatives to education and this is to enroll in Kuala Lumpur City College as students who want to study can be assured of employment afterwards. This may be too good to be true but students and parents should seriously look this college up.

The first programme they offer is the Diploma in Retail Management, which provide an overview of the most common practices of operation management with emphasis on retail and franchise. Students on this programme will be placed with a sponsoring establishment and taught the ropes on hand. They will be accorded a hostel to live in and an allowance of RM1000 a month. This programme comes with a sponsorship fee of RM22,400.

This second programme is Certificate in Retailing. This will enable students to get a good foundation on the principle of retailing and Franchising. This can assist them to strive in the highly competitive business world. This course focuses on according students’ professionalism and credibility in the demanding and competitive retailing industry. Again students on this course will get an allowance of RM1000 and a good hostel to live in. The sponsorship fees for this programme is RM10,500.

For students who wish to take the English Proficiency Programme, their sponsorship fee is RM8000. They too will be housed in a good hostel with an allowance of RM1000 monthly from the sponsoring establishment.

“They only need to bring the photocopies of their identity card (MyKad), SPM Examination result and four passport size photos and the photocopy of their parents Mykad,” Zahara said, adding that education is a very important part of life and she is very concerned about according access to education for all youth in the State .

She said the education programme will be officially launched in March this year and expect the Chief Minister of Sabah to officiate the event.
