KOTA KINABALU: University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) are exploring potential academic and research collaboration.
A delegation from UTS, led by Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin, visited UCSF’s campus in Sembulan.
The delegation included UTS’s Registrar, Mr Jimmy, and the Bursar, Dr Rabuan. The Vice Chancellor of UCSF, Dr Rafiq Idris, welcomed the delegation and discussed the universities’ recent developments and future plans.
UCSF and UTS expressed their interest in collaborating in potential areas related to research and academia.
The Vice Chancellors discussed the possibility of student and staff exchange programs, joint research projects, and conferences, among other areas of collaboration.
This collaboration is part of UCSF’s ongoing efforts to work with neighboring universities in Borneo on strategic initiatives.
Dr Rafiq, the Vice Chancellor of UCSF, emphasised the importance of exploring collaboration possibilities with UTS in strategic areas.
He highlighted the shared aspiration of both universities to provide accessible quality education for students.
Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin, the VC of UTS, expressed his delight in establishing a meaningful and long-term collaboration with UCSF. He emphasized the importance of enhancing access to higher education across Sabah and Sarawak. The collaboration also signifies a shared commitment to conduct joint research in areas of common interest, particularly related to Borneo development studies and heritage conservation.
Through this collaboration, both universities are looking forward to initiating people-to-people cooperation through student and staff exchange programs. This will foster a stronger relationship between UCSF and UTS and create opportunities for academic and cultural exchange.
