KOTA KINABALU: The Yayasan Sabah Group achieved a historic milestone in 2025, chalking a total pre-tax profit of RM683 million, an increase of 17 per cent compared to RM586 million the previous year, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
“At the company level, Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd (the investment arm of the Yayasan Sabah Group) recorded a pre-tax profit of RM243 million, an increase of 35 per cent compared to the previous year (RM179 million), and this is also the highest profit ever recorded in ICSB’s history.
“This achievement clearly proves that the management capability, as well as the commitment of the entire team, has produced an outstanding performance.
Congratulations to all,” he said at the Yayasan Sabah Awards Night held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here tonight.
His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister/Works and Utilities Minister DatukSeri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
Hajiji, who is also Chairman of the Yayasan Sabah Board of Trustees, said that in 2025, ICSB declared dividends amounting to RM160 million, an increase of seven per cent compared to RM150 million in 2024.
“This achievement is the highest dividend payment record in ICSB’s history. At the same time, ICSB remains the Sabah GLC with the highest dividend payout in the state for five consecutive years. We are optimistic that this performance will continue to rise in 2026, in line with its strong financial performance and positive business prospects,” he said.
He said this success was driven by the strength of various sectors within the Group, including the agro-plantation sector, which remained the largest contributor with a combined profit of RM323 million, remaining the main pillar of the Group’s revenue.
Meanwhile, the tourism and leisure sector recorded an increased profit of RM65 million, reflecting the positive growth of Sabah’s tourism industry.
“More remarkably, the oil, gas and energy sector showed a very significant surge with a profit of RM40 million, compared to only RM0.07 million in 2024,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the Yayasan Sabah Group’s role in boosting the state’s economy and contributing to society is significant.
“As a strategic machinery of the State Government, I am also proud that the Yayasan Sabah Group continues to persevere in driving various high-impact programmes such as education, human capital development, socioeconomics, conservation and research.
This is in line with its founding mission to continue serving as the backbone of educational and social development, from primary level up to university college level,” he said.
He said the Sabah State Education Fund (TPNS), which is also an initiative under the Yayasan Sabah Group Transformation Strategic Plan, has proven its effectiveness by benefiting 15,629 students, involving funds amounting to RM25.1 million.
“Meanwhile, aggressive loan collection efforts in 2025 amounted to RM8.03 million, the highest since Yayasan Sabah was established.
“This achievement reflects an increase of 22.4 per cent from RM6.6 million, which was the previous highest collection. The combination of loan repayment collections and TPNS has helped provide funds to meet the Yayasan Sabah Group’s educational commitments,” said Hajiji.
He said that, in implementing social and community development programmes, a total of 613 programmes were successfully carried out through six Zone Offices, achieving a 100 per cent success rate and benefiting 78,648 recipients through a RM4.26 million allocation.
In line with the government’s commitment to the state’s education agenda, the Chief Minister said University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF), the fully owned higher
education institution of the Yayasan Sabah Group, also recorded encouraging growth, with enrolment exceeding 1,100 students and the introduction of innovative courses beginning in 2025.
“UCSF is also now actively building international bridges through collaborations with universities from Brunei Darussalam, Bosnia, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, the Philippines and the United Kingdom,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said Kolej Teknologi Yayasan Sabah (KTYS) received a RM1.2 million mandate from the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department (ICU, JPM) to train 460 participants under the Special Programme for Natives (PKAN).
Two new projects, namely the Secondary School Academic Pilot Project and the Innovative Marine Food Economy Movement (GEMILAU), were also introduced.
Hajiji also expressed pride in witnessing the Yayasan Sabah Group management’s commitment to safeguarding the state’s natural treasures.
“The collaboration with Preferred by Nature (PbN), Denmark, for the Third Strategic Management Plan of the Maliau Basin Conservation Area demonstrates the Yayasan Sabah Group’s seriousness in preserving natural treasures for future generations.
“The Yayasan Sabah Group is also striving to improve ecotourism management through cooperation with various protected park areas throughout Malaysia,” he said.
Moving forward, Hajiji said the Yayasan Sabah Group, as a state statutory body and its subsidiaries, must continue to work hard and do their utmost to provide the best services to the people and the state while remaining committed to fulfilling the expectations of all stakeholders.
In conjunction with its 60th Anniversary on May 10 this year, Hajiji called on Yayasan Sabah to continue being a pioneer in producing knowledgeable, ethical and highly skilled human capital.
“I also hope the Yayasan Sabah Group will continue to remain innovative and relevant with the currents of modern development while working together in making the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 a success,” he said.-pr/BNN
