KUALA LUMPUR: ARCHIDEX 2026 is set to return from 29 July to 1 August at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), reaffirming its position as Asia’s premier architecture business event and a trusted platform for regional industry convergence.
Under the theme “The Bold Future”, ARCHIDEX 2026 marks a significant milestone in its evolution from a traditional trade exhibition into a fully integrated conference and exhibition ecosystem—where exhibitions, conferences, policy dialogues, and industry activation come together to shape the future of the built environment across Asia.
Organised jointly by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) and C.I.S, ARCHIDEX has grown into a regional hub of confidence, bringing together architects, interior designers, developers, engineers, manufacturers, and policymakers within a coordinated ecosystem that influences industry direction and economic growth.
At the ARCHIDEX Preview Event, C.I.S President, Dato’ Vincent Lim, reflected on the event’s development, stating: “ARCHIDEX began as a trade exhibition rooted in business, networking, and discovery. Today, it functions as a Confex platform, integrating exhibitions, conferences, and forums—an annual gathering that serves as a launchpad for brands, a springboard for local companies entering international markets, a gateway for global players into the region, and a meeting point where design, technology, and business converge.”
The decision to consolidate ARCHIDEX 2026 at MITEC for the first time signifies strategic growth. The event will expand by 20%, covering 39,000 square metres, and will host nearly 900 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions. It is expected to attract around 40,000 trade visitors from over 100 countries, with an anticipated business transaction value of up to RM1.4 billion, highlighting its role as a high-impact commercial and investment platform for the region.
A key feature of ARCHIDEX 2026 is the ASEAN Real Estate Conference (AREC), a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT). AREC aims to strengthen the vital link between policy formulation and industry implementation by bringing together government officials, developers, architects, and solution providers to align national urban development priorities with regional investment and execution strategies.
Through AREC, ARCHIDEX extends its influence beyond a mere exhibition, functioning as a structured policy-to-market interface where national agendas are transformed into actionable industry outcomes and investment opportunities. The event also solidifies its role as a regional knowledge hub, driven by an integrated conference ecosystem that connects practice, policy, and future industry trends.
At the heart of this ecosystem is DATUM, the region’s largest architectural conference organised by PAM. DATUM has become a defining platform for architectural discourse in Asia, attracting leading practitioners and thinkers to explore how architecture responds to changing urban, environmental, and societal demands. PAM President, Ar. I Dr Dexter Koh Yew Peng, emphasised the importance of ARCHIDEX within this broader ecosystem: “Within Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF), ARCHIDEX is more than a marketplace—it is a forum where architecture is discussed, questioned, and reimagined. Held concurrently with ARCHIDEX, the DATUM Conference is the region’s premier gathering of architectural minds. Over the years, DATUM has evolved into a celebration of architecture’s potential to drive positive change and inspire the next generation to design with purpose and responsibility.”
Complementing these events are the Asia Space Design Summit, focusing on spatial intelligence across key sectors, and the Asia Workplace Design Conference, which examines how workspaces, organisational culture, and design are being redefined across Asia.
ARCHIDEX 2026 will feature three thematic zones: the World of Works (WoW), which explores the future of human-centric and adaptable workplace environments; A Hospitality Anthology (aha), a new addition this year, highlighting innovations in hospitality design, experience, and functionality; and FENESTEX, dedicated to window, door, glass, and façade technology vital to building performance. Additionally, the Digital @ ARCHIDEX zone will showcase smarteX, an exhibition dedicated to smart building and facility management, emphasising the rapid development of BIM, AI, smart systems, and data-driven construction.
Beyond the exhibition, ARCHIDEX 2026 will offer a comprehensive programme designed to promote business growth, thought leadership, and talent development. This includes Biz Talks and Focus Forums, curated business matching and buyer programmes, the ARCHIDEX Star Awards recognising product innovation and excellence, and ARCHITALENT, which supports emerging design talent.
To improve accessibility and engagement, ARCHIDEX 2026 will introduce dedicated shuttle services from KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall, facilitating easier movement for visitors. The event will also once again activate Kuala Lumpur Architecture Week (KLAW)—bringing architecture, heritage, and public installations into the city. KLAW aims to strengthen the connection between the built environment and public life, supporting Malaysia’s broader efforts towards Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).-pr/BNN
