KOTA KINABALU: KKIP Aerospace Training Centre (KATC), managed by Mega Aerospace
Centre Sdn Bhd (MACSB), held its inaugural KATC Aero-Carnival 2023 here on Oct 30.
Themed “KATC Realising The Nation Aerospace Human Resource Development”, the aero-
carnival was organised with the support of the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park Sdn Bhd and
the Sabah Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry.
Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, who officiated the event, expressed his enthusiasm, saying talent development growth in the
aerospace industry requires the right skill set.
“Sabah, without exception, is ready to take the challenge by having KATC as the only
Approved Maintenance Training Organisation conducting basic training in Sabah and East
Malaysia," he said. His speech was delivered by his special officer Henry Sim.
KATC Chief Executive Officer Dato' Ir. Ts. Dr Mohd Dali Isa highlighted the event’s significance, saying it showed KATC’s commitment towards realising the vision of making
Malaysia an aerospace nation.
A key highlight of the event was the announcement of strategic partnerships between Mega
Aerospace Centre and leading entities in the industry, including NK Robotics Sdn Bhd, a
pioneering force in drone technology in Sabah, and Prima Tech Solutions Sdn Bhd, an
aviation training centre based in Kuching, Sarawak.
By harnessing the collective expertise and resources of these organisations, the partnership
aimed to fortify the skills and capabilities of the aviation workforce in Sabah and elsewhere
within Malaysia to be in line with Malaysia Aerospace Blueprint 2030 as an effective
enabler.
The KATC Aero-Carnival 2023 marked a significant milestone as it is the first of its kind in
Sabah.
The event was not merely an event but a catalyst for growth, aligning seamlessly with one of the thrusts of the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan from 2021-2025,
namely Human Capital and People’s Wellbeing. This initiative underscores the paramount
importance of human capital development and the wellbeing of the people, emphasising Sabah’s commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring a prosperous future for all.
KATC, certified as Part 147 Approved Training Organisation by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and nestled within the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP), is the vanguard of aerospace education in the region.
MACSB, as the sole approved training organisation in Sabah and recognised by competent
authorities, is dedicated to nurturing human capital for the aviation and aerospace industries, including maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for airframes and
components. For more information about the KATC Aero-Carnival 2023 can visit kkipaerospace.com.my.-pr/BNN
