KOTA BELUD: Approximately 32 branch leaders of UMNO in Tempasuk have appealed to UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi not to field an ‘outsider’ for the Tempasuk state constituency in the upcoming Sabah state election slated for November 29.
Spokesperson Azizul Durajib, who is also the branch leader of Taun Gusi Batu 4, stressed that the majority of UMNO branch leaders prefer candidates to be selected from among the local members of UMNO Kota Belud.
“Many capable local members of UMNO Kota Belud can be put forward as candidates, and there is no need to ‘import’ outsider to contest in Tempasuk,” he said in a recent social media post.
In this regard, Azizul noted that a letter of objection, rejecting outsider from Kota Belud, signed by all 32 branch leaders, has been sent to Ahmad Zahid, who is also the chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN).
He said that the appeal letter was sent through the Sabah UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
Azizul hopes that this appeal will be given due consideration for the good of the party.
Recently, The Star newspaper reported that among the figures being considered to contest in Tempasuk is Tuaran UMNO Chief Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahalan.-pr/BNN
