KOTA KINABALU: The Director of the Department of Women’s Affairs (JHEWA), h Haslina Ismail, officially launched the AI Business Transformation Course, organised by the Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (SWEPA), recently.

The course aims to equip participants with knowledge of how artificial intelligence (AI) can support business transformation and help them respond to the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy.

In her address,  Haslina congratulated SWEPA and its former president, Karen Wong, on the successful delivery of a Mobile Phone Repair Services Course under the Community Economic Empowerment Programme (PEKB), sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

The programme trained 40 participants from the B40 and e-Kasih communities.  Haslina said the achievement had benefited the local community and reflected SWEPA’s commitment to strengthening women’s participation in Sabah’s economy.

She said JHEWA supported women through initiatives including entrepreneurship training, professional skills development and financial assistance for small business owners. Recognition received by SWEPA, she added, showed that women in Sabah could compete on the global stage.

Haslina also commended SWEPA president Betty Epin for leading programmes focused on developing women entrepreneurs’ business skills and knowledge. She paid tribute to Datin Medlina Lubiren, chair of the course’s organising committee, for her work in delivering the event.

“Digital transformation is not merely a necessity; it is also an opportunity for us all to move forward,” she said, adding that women could achieve remarkable success when given opportunities, guidance and an appropriate platform.-BNN
