KOTA KINABALU: The support and unity among members from various CLCs of SAPP North Zone can play an important role in strengthening the GRS, said Datuk Richard Yong.
Richard, Secretary-General of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), who officiated the launching SAPP North Zone AGM last Saturday, added that as a founding member of GRS, SAPP has a responsibility to ensure GRS wins and GRS candidates win the next general election.
“SAPP has gained momentum and support especially on MA63 and Sabah IC,” said Richard, who is also a deputy president of the party.
The launching was attended by representatives from Usukan, Tempasuk, Bandau, Bengkoka, Tamparuli and Kundasang CLCs (Constituency Liaison Committees). It was held in Kg Tombol, Kota Belud for the first time.
Meanwhile, Edward Dagul, who is chairman of SAPP North Zone during his speech stressed the importance of cooperation and close relationship between the GRS parties in preparing for the general election which will take place at any time.
Edward, also a deputy president of SAPP said that GRS is a first local coalition of local parties that have always defended the rights and interests of Sabah, which, in general, is increasingly well received by the people of Sabah.
He said the party branches’ Annual General Meetings are expected to be completed by August while the delegates’ congress in September and top party election will be held.
Also present at the ceremony was Deputy President Encik Japiril Suhaimin cum chairman of CLC Kundasang, Supreme Councillor Gimmy Tai Organizing Chairman cum chairman of CLC Usukan, Supreme Councillor Dr Brister Mokujal cum Chairman of CLC Bengkoka, Supreme Councillors Alex Soon, John Stephen, Charles Yong, Nelson Marcellus and Dexter Chin, and Mudanita Chief Ms Sherine Chong.-pr/BNN
