KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Eliza Goh was awarded the 2026 Excellence and Inspiration Awards, ( Anugerah Cemerlang Inspirasi Gemilang Maju Jaya 2026) during an event held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) yesterday.
The event demonstrated that service and dedication transcend professional boundaries, reflecting a pluralistic society that values contributions from all walks of life.
This is another award for her, who is widely admired not only as a successful entrepreneur but also as a compassionate philanthropist whose life’s work has been dedicated to uplifting those in need.
While she is the owner of Zara’s Boutique Hotel and has earned respect for her business acumen and leadership in the hospitality industry, it is her generosity and commitment to community service that have truly defined her legacy.
Driven by the belief that success should be shared, Eliza has devoted much of her time and resources to helping the less fortunate.
She has consistently supported charitable organisations and causes which are close to her heart.
As the president elect of Rotary Club Kota Kinabalu Pearl (RCKK), which is  her second stint at this helm, she is very concerned with education.
“It is a top priority for me as I believe a good education and a right start to a child’s life is the key to a successful future,” she shares.
The Honorary Advisor to the Board of Directors and a distinguished alumnus of Kian Kok school,  Eliza has  deep concern for academically outstanding yet financially disadvantaged students by actively mobilising assistance for his alma mater
In her public life Eliza has helped schools, visited homes for the elderly and hosted talks on cancer awareness initiatives, disaster relief efforts and families facing financial hardship.
However many of her acts of kindness are carried out quietly, without seeking recognition, reflecting her genuine desire to make a difference in people’s lives.
One cause especially close to her heart is the empowerment of single mothers. Understanding the challenges they face, she has provided many with employment opportunities, training and mentorship through her business, enabling them to regain financial independence and rebuild their confidence.
For Eliza, offering a job is more than providing an income, it is giving someone hope, dignity and the chance to create a better future for their children.
Her compassion extends beyond financial assistance. She is known for personally reaching out to individuals and families in need, offering encouragement, practical support and a listening ear during difficult times.
Her unwavering commitment to serving others has earned her the admiration of many across Sabah.
Through her philanthropy, advocacy for women and dedication to improving lives, Eliza exemplifies the belief that true success is measured not by wealth or achievement, but by the positive impact one leaves on the lives of others.-BNN
