KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor presented Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah (YKS) aid totalling RM30,600 comprising RM300 for each of the 102 Heads of Household (KIR) affected by the recent floods in Tawau.
The Chief Minister presented the aid through Tawau Municipal Council President, Mohd Shoffian Mohd Said, to help ease the burden of families affected by the disaster.
He also expressed appreciation to all disaster management personnel for their tireless efforts to assist flood victims throughout the incident, including the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysia (JBPM), the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Tawau District Disaster Management Committee, as well as all agencies and committee members involved.
He said the commitment and cooperation demonstrated by all parties in carrying out the rescue operations, managing the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS), and delivering assistance ensured that the welfare of flood victims was well looked after throughout the disaster.
The recent floods in Tawau affected 102 Heads of Household (KIR) involving 362 evacuees, comprising 217 adults, 109 children, 28 senior citizens, and eight infants.
They were relocated to the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at the Tawau Sports Complex Multipurpose Hall before all evacuees were allowed to return to their homes after conditions returned to normal.-pr/BNN
